NLVA Short Serves --- A Family's Contribution to Community Development

Randy Rowsell

Randy Rowsell, coach of the Sir Wilfred Grenfell College (SWGC) women's volleyball team, has been quite active as a volunteer in the volleyball community over the past 5 years.

Over the course of the last 3 years, Randy has put together the Grenfell Volleyball League as an opportunity for Senior Ladies and High School teams to have more competition locally. The Grenfell Volleyball League runs for 6 hours every Sunday evening, and 11 teams take part in match play during that time. Randy was the organizer of this league, he coached the SWGC Women's team and he refereed many of the League matches.

Randy's daughter Sarah, when not participating in her own matches, often stuck around to minor officiate the entire evening.

Tyler, Randy's son, also referees and minor officiates in the League on a weekly basis. Rhoda Rowsell, is also an active volunteer with both the male and female Corner Brook High Volleyball teams, and spends every hour of league play either watching her children play, or feeding the volleyball enthusiasts.

This Grenfell Volleyball League would not be possible and would not have run so smoothly with the help of the entire Rowsell family. The members of this family are true volleyball fans, and help ensure the continued development of volleyball in Corner Brook and surrounding communities.
